Marc Andreessen’s Essay „It’s time to build“ stiftete im Techverse viel Unruhe. Bedeutende VCs, Ökonomen und Tech-Politiker stimmen der Grundthese “Es braucht bessere Institutionen” uneingeschränkt zu: Nur mit Investitionen in neue Infrastrukturen, politische Strukturen, kapitalintensive Produktionsunternehmen usw. ist Fortschritt möglich.
Doch es gibt auch Gegenwind: Andreessen wird kritisiert für seinen nostalgischen Nachruf auf den Amerikanischen Traum, seinen simplen Vorschlag nach einer Maximierung von Investments, seinen typischen “Push>Pull + Neu>Wartung” Ansatz sowie seine fehlende Reflexion der eigenen Rolle. Immerhin ist das Silicon Valley mitverantwortlich für unsere Welt.
Der Text ist ein guter Call to Action. Er wird nachhallen. Es muss mehr gebaut werden (was übrigens in der Natur des Menschen liegt). Doch die Zukunft gehört nicht der eingeschränkten Weltsicht von Andreessen’s Tech-Bros.
Nicht alles lässt sich mit Geld und disruptiven Innovationen lösen. Durch Geld evozierte Quantum Leaps sind ein Mythos. Wir brauchen inkrementelle Erfolge. Jedes noch so kleine Investment in evolutionäre Innovationen ist genauso wichtig wie große Visionen oder Großprojekte. Für Ideologien ist keine Zeit.
Und was soll der bitte der Schwachsinn mit Westworld, Hyperloops & fliegenden Autos?
